| Rupestris stem pitting
virus causes a slow decline of vinifera cultivars and interspecific hybrids.
Tests have shown that the disease is widespread in French-American hybrids
in commercial vineyards in the northeastern United States and Canada.
The main symptoms are delayed bud break, poor spring growth, stunting
of infected plants and a decline in yield. No leaf discoloration is observed.
When the bark is peeled off the trunk, the wood may reveal the presence
of small pits. This virus mainly spreads via planting material. |
